Brief Comparison of PMAB® and SAMA

I have developed the Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB®) Edition Two for the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and have been conducting instructor courses for private and public agencies outside of the department since 1991. The TXMHMR is no longer making that program available so we are offering an alternative program that we believe surpasses its predecessor. The new program is called Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression or SAMA.

SAMA takes the most effective components of the award winning work done with PMAB® to the next level of development and refinement. SAMA is streamlined, to-the-point, and easier to teach and learn than its predecessor.

SAMA uses a videotape format to present essential information, demonstrate skills, and illustrate practical application of skills and concepts. A Facilitator then leads participants through exercises and learning activities until they can demonstrate the skills and concepts presented on the tapes.

By presenting information and skills with videotape, organizations can be assured that issues critical to the care and safety of the people being served will be presented as consistently as possible.
